Encrypting a file from an external source

You can open files from an external source, such as your Mail application, and encrypt the files into Smartcryptor.

1) Open and login to the Smartcryptor app. Ensure that you've added the cloud provider (ex. Dropbox) that you wish to encrypt the file into. You can find out how in our Quick Start Guide.

2) Switch to the application where the file you wish to encrypt is located, and open the file.

3) Find the Share button. Unfortunately, if this functionality is not available, you will not be able to "send" the file to Smartcryptor for encryption. The button's location will differ per application; for example, you can see below in the bottom left-hand corner.

4) Tap the item Open In Smartcryptor.

5) You'll be switched back to the Smartcryptor app automatically, where a list of your linked cloud providers will be listed. Select the one you wish to place your file into.

6) The listing of your files will be filtered to only show folders and containers. You can select an existing container to place your file into, or tap Select current folder to create a new container in the current location.

7) Your file will be encrypted into the specified location and uploaded automatically!
